Chief Financial Officer will ensure fiscal responsibility while sharing Carta’s financial insights with internal and external stakeholders, leading to our continued success. The CFO will have both a day-to-day and ongoing impact on company operations, helping  to analyze, strategize, and grow the company's financial position. This seasoned strategist not only understands current accounting practices and trends, but has proven experience raising capital, managing the financial details of partnerships and adapting to change.  The task and challenges of this role will be to create a profitable and sustainable path in terms of people, product and processes. The CFO will advise on best practices within Finance, Accounting, Operations & Investment strategies. This role will work closely with CEO and Board Level decision makers to determine ideal / best - case business practices to further attract investment clientele 


  • Strategic and operationally focused, either directly or by managing staff, for all fiscal management, investments, insurance, budgeting, and financial reporting, helping to drive the company’s financial strategy and hiring needs

  • Engage Board of directors for support and participation, inclusive of audit and compensation planning

  • Provide rigorous analytical and financial frameworks: strategy consulting and public accounting 

  • Coordinate the development of the annual operating, capital, and program budgets, and reporting against the same

  • Be able to provide equity value driven; an advocate of growth initiatives supported through economic models and metrics to ramp

  • Ensure cash flow is compatible with company operations, by overseeing the day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal control activities of the organization

  • Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.

  • Lead the development and use of best-practice policies, practices, and tools that ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization with strong fiscal management, project management, high growth team, cross team communications and workflow

  • Comply with federal, state, and local financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing compliance, and taking action

  • Perform risk management through analysis of company liabilities and investments, and evaluate and manage capital structure and fundraising initiatives

What you’ll need:

  • Extensive CFO and technology company experience within Finance, Operations & Management (ideally within SaaS business models) and their associated revenue recognition is strongly preferred

  • Lead VC-backed companies through phases to acquisition or IPO

  • Significant international experience, including entity formation, tax structuring and operations

  • Track record of providing financial leadership to early-stage VC-backed  tech start-ups 

  • Proven track record of creating financial reporting processes, procedure & metrics for software companies

  • Experience and success working with tax accountants for US-based companies

  • Ability to partner and collaborate with an internationally dispersed workforce

  • Understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planning

  • Working knowledge of raising capital
